Greenspan Technology - Environmental Monitoring Systems for Water and AtmosphereGreenspan Technology (Greenspan) is a recognised global provider of integrated environmental monitoring systems for water and atmosphere. Greenspan offers research and design engineering, and implementation and installation services, including testing, training and on-site commissioning. Greenspan's integrated monitoring systems include those for:
FLOOD FORECASTING AND WARNING SYSTEMSGreenspan specialises in the provision of flood forecasting and warning systems in Australia, Asia and the Middle East. Our flood forecasting and warning systems include the design and installation of remote rainfall and water level monitoring stations, warning stations, gate monitoring and control sub systems, geotechnical dam measuring apparatus, and telemetry and SCADA infrastructure and software, as well as hydraulic and hydrological modelling. Major projects include the Yangtze River three gorges project, the SMART project in Kuala Lumpur, and numerous other systems associated with hydro-power schemes in major capital cities, towns and remote villages. DISCHARGE AND WATER QUALITY MONITORINGGreenspan provides unique, tailor-made systems for monitoring water level, velocity, discharge, and water quality. We are able to quantify flows in rivers and channels from 1m to 200m wide, and provide theoretical ratings validated by dry and wet weather field gaugings. Monitoring of physical and chemical water quality parameters is also attainable with Greenspan's professionally designed flow-through systems for highly turbid waters and in-situ monitoring at other locations. STORMWATER AND WASTEWATER MONITORINGDischarge, inflow, infiltration and ex-filtration are part of the Greenspan offering for stormwater and wastewater monitoring. Establishing either short or long term networks, Greenspan can design, install and maintain open channel and closed pipe monitoring networks. Recently, Greenspan has provided wastewater monitoring services as part of Singapore's wastewater rehabilitation program. This involved water level and velocity monitoring at in excess of 500 locations island-wide, many of which also gathered key water quality data. OCEANOGRAPHIC MONITORINGOceanographic monitoring systems offered by Greenspan provide end users with critical wave, current, tidal and water quality information. These systems can be used as warning systems, for port monitoring, ecological studies and surveys, and for controlling the intake and discharge from desalination plants. Greenspan has recently commissioned an offshore monitoring system for Western Australia Water Corporation's desalination plant (the largest in the Southern hemisphere). The monitoring system is comprised of monitoring buoys that collect salinity and turbidity information, and transfer all data to the land base station via telemetry. ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING SYSTEM TELEMETRY AND SCADA SOLUTIONS Greenspan is able to offer telemetry and SCADA solutions for all environmental monitoring systems. Communication mediums may include – but are not limited to – telephone, GSM, CDMA, satellite, microwave or radio (VHF / UHF). All telemetry systems are specifically designed to meet the end user's requirements with respect to budget and timely data transmission. Each network includes a base station (or multiple base stations), which are each capable of collecting all remote data and providing on-location alarming, as well as SMS, pager, email and fax warnings as required. ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING SYSTEM DATA MANAGEMENT A critical part of any environmental monitoring network is the collection, presentation and storage of data. Greenspan provides tailored data management solutions for all end users, which range from simple databases at a central control room to more elaborate web-based packages where data can be displayed in near real time from any PC in the world with an internet connection.
