CheckLight - Real-time Water Quality Monitoring KitsCheckLight Ltd focuses on developing novel, rapid as well as inexpensive and highly sensitive quality control bioassays to monitor various parameters of water quality. The ability to quickly, easily and accurately determine whether an environmental sample is contaminated with a specific toxicant is of great importance to wastewater and water treatment plant operators, hazardous waste managers, health officials and others who have an interest in protecting public health and the environment from toxic insult. WATER QUALITY MONITORINGAlthough sophisticated techniques for analyzing environmental samples are well known, these techniques are often costly, time consuming and cannot be conducted in the field. Moreover, these techniques do not indicate whether the sample is toxic to the biota. CheckLight fills this void by introducing innovative methods and testing kits for real time water quality monitoring by providing means for performing low-cost, fast and sensitive water quality tests. This saves valuable time, expensive chemical analyses and enables rapid response to changing conditions. The kits are already being successfully used by leading water service labs in Europe and North America, the Israeli National Water company, as well as industrial companies. CHECKLIGHT TECHNOLOGYCheckLight proprietary-based technology utilizes non-pathogenic luminous marine bacteria as sensitive sensors. The use of bacterial luminescence for water quality testing has been widely used in the water industry for over 20 years. CheckLight's scientific team has succeeded in simplifying the bioassay and packaging it into user-friendly kits that can be used cost-effectively in either the field or laboratory setting. The kits enable more frequent monitoring of water and often reduce the need for shipping samples to expensive external chemical laboratories. TOXSCREEN TESTThe ToxScreen test provides on-site detection of a wide range of organic and inorganic toxicants, such as heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, chlorinated hydrocarbons, PCBs, BTEX and PCP. The rapid test (results obtained within one hour) is ideal for early warning of changing conditions in water quality due to accidents, spills or sabotage. The portability of the kit enables both field and lab testing. Typical applications include effluent toxicity testing, surface and ground water screening for changes in water quality and raw drinking water monitoring for early warning of dangerous spills, accidents, sabotage\bioterrorism ensuring water safety. BIOCIDE ACTIVITY TESTBiocide activity test involves the on-site determination of biocide activity in industrial cooling and heating water systems, metalworking cooling fluids, as well as pulp and paper slurries (results obtained within 5 minutes). It enables chemical cost savings due to optimal biocide dosing as well as operational savings from avoiding maintenance and equipment down-time associated with uncontrolled biocide activity. Typical applications include optimizing chemical dosing and the efficient operation of industrial process water and equipment. BOD TESTThe BOD test determines Biochemical Oxygen Demand within a reduced period of 3-4 hours instead of 5 days, enabling more frequent monitoring of treatment plant efficiency and allowing a rapid response to changing conditions. Typical applications include rapid testing in-house for informed decisions regarding process control adjustments. AOC TESTAOC test determines Assimilable Organic Carbon, either in drinking water or seawater, within just 2-3 hours. This enables close monitoring of bacterial regrowth potential in desalination plants, potential DBPs formation in water treatment processes and biofouling potential in industrial process water. Typical applications include raw drinking water testing to reduce danger of DBPs formation, monitoring process water to reduce biofouling build up and testing in water desalination facilities for bacterial regrowth potential.
