Weir Materials and Foundries - Zeron® 100 Super Duplex Stainless Steel

Weir Materials and Foundries specialise in the manufacture of corrosion resistant stainless steel castings and pipe work systems and components. Mainly serving the oil and gas, desalination, mining, chemical, marine, power and pollution control industries.

We stock and distribute ZERON® 100 super duplex stainless steel pipes, fittings and flanges, bar, fasteners, forgings and welding consumables as individual components or as project managed pipe work packages. We also fabricate ZERON 100 pipe spools, manifolds and cartridge filter vessels in accordance with client drawings and specifications.

We have a custom built, jobbing foundry that specialises in the production of pressure retaining, high integrity steel castings ranging in weight from a few kilos up to 8t. We produce castings in a range of steel grades but specialise in the production of high alloy castings including our world class "ZERON" range of castings. We service pump and valve industry customers as well as other OEM manufacturers requiring quality castings.

ZERON 100 HIGH STRENGTH, CORROSION RESISTANT STAINLESS STEEL

ZERON 100 is a high strength, corrosion resistant stainless steel that resists all forms of corrosion attack in seawater service. It is readily available in all product forms.

We have replaced corroding high pressure sea water feed pipe work constructed in 316L, 904L and 22% Chromium duplex stainless steels with ZERON 100 very successfully on several occasions.

Our ZERON 100 products compete strongly with 6% Molybdenum super austenitic stainless steels by providing lower base metal costs due to lower levels of Nickel and Molybdenum. ZERON 100 offers further cost reductions because its high strength, this allows reduction in the wall thickness of pipes and vessels in accordance with pipe and vessel codes. ZERON 100 provides low cost, long life, minimum maintenance facility for all sea water applications.

SEAWATER REVERSE OSMOSIS APPLICATIONS

In seawater reverse osmosis, ZERON 100 has been used extensively as the material of construction of high pressure seawater feed pipe work, sea water intake pumps; high pressure sea water feed pumps, vessel side and end ports, energy recovery devices, valves, sand cartridge filter vessels.

Many international projects have used ZERON 100 with references from the UK, Spain, Cyprus, Seychelles, Middle East, Far East, North Africa, India, China and the USA. Our reference list includes SWRO references for small capacity, skid mounted and containerised units for use on golf courses and in hotels and hospitals.

This equipment we regularly supply off the shelf from our warehouse in Manchester where we keep our stock holding. We also work with engineering contractor’s world wide for project new build requirements. These developments range in capacity from 10,000 to 20,000 m3/day plants that are usually expandable in phased modules to higher capacities, up to the 250,000+ m3/day major plants.

SWRO UNIT PIPE SPOOL CONSTRUCTION

We have supplied customers with fabricated ZERON 100 pipe work spools and filter vessels, built to their drawings. This allows customers optimise mechanical assembly on site with a minimum of site fabrication and welding. All welding is carried out by qualified welders working to qualified procedures and using the ZERON 100 X grade welding consumables necessary for high corrosion resistance.
