Lubrication Engineers Lubricants and Reliability Products for Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities

Our network of certified lubrication consultants stands ready to provide an immediate positive impact on your operation

Prevention is always the best solution. It is easier and more cost-effective to put clean lubricant into your machinery and keep it clean and dry than it is to remove water, particulate matter and other contaminants after they’ve got in to the lubricant. In the real world, however, a multipronged approach that includes both prevention and removal is needed.

In business since 1951, Lubrication Engineers has the experience and knowledge to help water and wastewater treatment facilities solve their toughest lubrication challenges.

We are familiar with your equipment and processes, and our network of certified lubrication consultants stands ready to provide an immediate positive impact on your operation.

Protecting lubricants and equipment from contamination

In water and wastewater treatment facilities, the vast majority of lubricant contamination comes from water. Major problems include rust and corrosion, water ingression and water washout.

• Rust and corrosion affects many components because of the constant presence of humidity and moisture throughout the facility. In gearboxes, humid air and temperature changes lead to condensation in the headspace, which over time can cause rusting. Metal flakes form, fall into the oil, circulate, get into the bearings and eventually cause extensive damage. Rust can also lead to oxidation and emulsification.

• Condensation inside gearboxes and pumps can be caused by direct impingement, by loss of integrity in the seal, or by moisture in the air that is breathed into the equipment.

• Water washout is experienced by many commercial quality lubricants that are either removed or weakened by the frequent exposure to water of certain components (such as gears, bearings, chains and cables).

In addition to water-related problems, dust, dirt, process chemicals and cross-contamination are other sources of contamination that can create problems with equipment.

A comprehensive lubricant reliability program that includes the right lubricant, the appropriate reliability tools and training for key personnel is the best way to prevent contamination and protect the lubricant. When put in practice, this program will help your facility run longer and more efficiently, therefore improving the bottom line.

Lubricant reliability products and services

To complement our lubricant offerings, we offer a full line of lubrication reliability products and services, including solutions for oil analysis, storage, handling and transfer, contamination exclusion, contamination removal and education and training.

Oil analysis provides consistent, accurate monitoring of the condition of your oil, establishes optimum drain intervals, and detects wear or contamination before it damages equipment.

Automatic lubricators enable 24/7 lubrication, eliminating the need for labor-intensive manual lubrication. Lubrication Engineers offers a variety of lubricators filled with your choice of our premium industrial greases to ensure proper lubrication for your equipment: the right grease, at the right time, in the right amount.

Desiccant breathers absorb moisture and prevent particulate ingestion into the oil or equipment. They are a must for any lubrication reliability programme.

Sight glasses enable continuous visual monitoring of the clarity, color, sediment and water contamination levels of your lubricants. Some models allow you to easily remove the water by draining it right out of the system.

Portable filtration units (low flow or high flow) are ideal tools to remediate contaminated systems, flush new equipment during commissioning or periodically decontaminate systems that have inadequate onboard filtration to meet target cleanliness levels.

Education and training is available through Lubrication Engineers, including MLT I, MLT II and CLS lubrication classes.

Lubrication Engineers also offers certification opportunities. Check our website for classes, dates, costs and locations, then sign up to start increasing your knowledge about lubrication and lubrication best practices.

Lubrication Engineers’ website also includes a full comprehensive listing of all LE lubricants and lubricant reliability products.
