Voltas, a Tata Enterprise, is a 50-year-old company that has been in the business of water management since 1977. The water management business division is part of the international operations business group of Voltas. The division's key strength is accumulated knowledge and expertise to design, engineer, supply, erect, test and commission water / sewage / effluence treatment systems for diverse applications in the areas of refineries, petrochemicals, textiles, chemicals, paper and sugar industries, dairies, steel plants, power plants, hotels and utilities, both in India and abroad.

Over the last two decades, Voltas has designed, engineered and installed complete ranges of process equipment required for various treatments.

SCREENING

Manual, mechanical and hydraulic type screening is suitable for use in coarse, fine, deep and shallow channels and in various materials. Automated bar screens are available in inclined, curved or grab type configurations with clear spacing between the bars from 6mm to 100mm.

GRIT REMOVAL

Voltas supplies detritors and classifiers for grit removal, along with adjustable turning vanes to modulate the inflow and adjustable weir on the outlet. Robust classifier mechanisms are available in both reciprocating and screw conveyer types. Voltas reciprocating classifiers require minimal maintenance due to no moving parts under water.

TRAVELLING GRIT EXTRACTORS

These are available for grit removal over long channels, either with scrapers or pumps, mounted on the travelling gantry on the channels. Scrapers can also skim oil or scum.

SURFACE AERATORS (FIXED AND FLOATING)

Voltas surface aerators are market leading products due to their vast range (1.5kW to 112kW) and high oxygenation capacities (2kg/kWh to 2.2kg/kWh at standard conditions) with the added feature of oxygenation capacity control by means of controlling the cone immersion in water. Surface aerators are available in fixed and floating configurations, and in MS epoxy coated, SS, FRP coated and rubber-lined constructions.

The control of oxygenation capacity is adjusted by immersion in water and the proportionate reduction in power consumption. Voltas aerators operate at low speeds (41 to 56rpm) and have a non-clogging, conical impeller with peripheral vanes. A helical gearbox is provided, and there is a dry well arrangement on the output shaft to make the gearbox oil-proof. Aerators are statically balanced, and dynamic balancing can be provided if required. Aerators with draft tubes are provided for deep tanks (4m to 6m).

CLARIFIERS, CLARIFLOCCULATORS AND THICKENERS

These are available in central driven, peripheral driven, and travelling bridge configurations with scum skimming arrangements. Drivers are provided with standard gearboxes and slewing ring drives with rotating cage type designs for high torque applications. Available in diameters ranging from 3m-70m.

REACTOR CLARIFIERS

Reactor clarifiers involving sludge blankets and combined coagulation, floating and settling in single units are available in various diameters.

TRICKLING FILTERS

Trickling filters or rotary distributors are provided with air locks or mercury seals.

OIL SEPARATION

Voltas has a complete range of oil separating equipment covering free oil, emulsified oil and oily sludge. Voltas provides API oil separators, tilted plate separators, dissolved air floatation units and combinations of these units for oil and grease removal.

OTHER EQUIPMENT

Voltas provides parallel plate separators, pressure sand filters, activated carbon filters with automation, agitators, anoxic mixers, and flocculators for applications in water and wastewater treatment.

MEMBRANE BIOREACTORS

Voltas also supplies membrane bioreactors for providing water for reuse, eliminating conventional treatment schemes including pressure filtration systems.

CONSULTANCY

Voltas offers consultancy services for design and engineering of water and wastewater schemes.
