WATER TREATMENT: REMOVAL OF HEAVY METALS

Due to increased environmental legislation, heavy metals need to be removed from wastewater down to an extremely low residual concentration. Some heavy metals that are significant in this area include lead, cadmium, copper, nickel, mercury, silver, zinc and tin.

METAL SEQUESTERING

Flexsys has a range of dithiocarbamates that are very effective in complexing heavy metal ions, forming highly insoluble compounds (with solubility far below that of the corresponding hydroxides). We provide these dithiocarbamates namely for industries such as printed wire board and metal finishing, as well as for power stations and incinerators.

PERKACIT SDMC AND PERKACIT SDEC

Our dithiocarbamates, Perkacit SDMC and Perkacit SDEC, have advantages over alkali metal sulfides, they are less toxic and result in larger particles that are more easily de-watered and separated.

DITHIOCARBAMATE-BASED PRECIPITATING AGENTS

Through our many years of experience with dithiocarbamate-based precipitating agents we have been able to achieve residual concentrations of heavy metals of between 0.01 and 1mg/l. This is dependent on the heavy metal and composition of the wastewater and the presence of chelating agents.

BIOCIDES

Dithiocarbamates are also used as biocides in areas such as the paper industry, sugar mills and tanneries. Products used in these applications are Perkacit SDMC, Perkacit KDMC, Perkacit SDEC, Perkacit DSEC and Perkacit SMEC. Perkacit SDMC is a sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate with the CAS reg. no. 128-04-1 and the molecular weight 143.

PERKACIT KDMC

Perkacit KDMC is a potassium dimethyldithiocarbamate with the CAS reg. no.128-03-0 and the molecular weight 159.

PERKACIT SDEC

Perkacit SDEC is a sodium diethyldithiocarbamate with the CAS reg. no. 148-18-5 and the molecular weight 171.

PERKACIT DSEC

Perkacit DSEC is a disodium ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate) with the CAS reg. no. 142-59-6 and the molecular weight 256.

PERKACIT SMEC

Perkacit SMEC is a sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate/ disodium ethylenebis (dithiocarbamate) with the CAS reg. no. 128-04-1/142-59-6 and the molecular weight 143/256.
