Control of Toxic Chemicals in Puget Sound

This white paper, prepared by the Washington State Department of Ecology, evaluates the loading of toxic chemicals to Puget Sound, a complex estuarine system of interconnected marine waterways and basins, by annual direct groundwater discharge.

It also provides an understanding of the relative contribution of the direct groundwater discharge pathway in comparison with other toxic loading pathway estimates and offers data to support refinements to Puget Sound's toxics box model.

The report describes the methods and assumptions used to develop the loading estimates and discusses sources of uncertainty in the predictions.
