Australian National Rainwater and Greywater Initiative

07 June 2010

The national rainwater and grey water initiative was drafted by the Australian Government as a blueprint for the future of recycled water in the country. The initiative is part of the $12.9bn "Water for the Future" plan, which aims to help people manage their usage of water resources more economically and wisely.

Through the initiative, the government offer rebates of up to $500 for households that have purchased a new rainwater tank or greywater treatment system since 30 January 2009.

The water plan intends to help the nation address key areas over the coming years, which include using and securing water supplies such as rivers and taking action on climate change.
