Waternet, Witteveen+Bos collaborate with CycloPure for new adsorbents

Waternet and Witteveen+Bos have teamed up with CycloPure to introduce latter’s new adsorbent, called  High Affinity Cyclodextrin Polymers, to treat water.

CycloPure’s HACP adsorbents are designed to deal with micropollutants of pharmaceuticals, pesticides and PFASs.

Witteveen+Bos and Waternet together evaluated HACP adsorbents for water treatment in the Netherlands, and developed a suitable treatment concept.

In early production and pilot testing phase, CycloPure’s HACPs converts renewable cyclodexrins into highly adsorbent materials that are suited for the applications of water treatment.

Cyclodextrin is derived from corn starch. Cyclopure’s HACP adsorbents gain their adhesive affinity from cyclodextrin inclusion complexes, which removes and attracts micropollutants from water.

HACP adsorbents have high capacity and rapid uptake at tracing pollutant concentrations. Even a lower dose of HACPs enables in achieving adsorption objectives and can be regenerated with a maximum percentage of reuse on-site.

Witteveen+Bos is an applied research entity in the Netherlands. Involved in micropollutant issue, the company provides consulting and engineering services for waterboards.

Waternet is a water cycle company providing clean water to the metropolitan area of Amsterdam.  It developed full-scale wastewater treatment plant that can remove micropollutants, in 2012.

CycloPure has developed two adsorbent formulations, CD-MP and CD-PFAS, to remove of micropollutants from water.  Its patented HACPs can be produced in different particle sizes, thereby enabling its use across a wide spectrum of water treatment applications.
