Biwater delivers RO system to North Carolina water treatment facility

UK-based water and wastewater company Biwater has delivered a three million gallon a day (MGD) reverse osmosis (RO) system to Dixon water treatment plant, located near Jacksonville, North Carolina, US.

The plant includes pre-treatment cartridge filtration, chemical dosing, a membrane cleaning system, plant instrumentation, remote IO stations, PLC and SCADA. The custom RO trains and accompanying equipment for the project have been designed and assembled in Biwater’s facility in California.

The advanced system will be used to treat unusable brackish well water and provide drinking water meeting Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.

Biwater membrane treatment and desalination sector president Jorg Menningmann said that the firm’s engineers have worked seamlessly to pre-fabricate and prepare the RO system for a fast-track delivery to site.

"It is a pleasure to oversee the craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into designing and executing such a project, which provides immediate benefits to the local population being served," Menningmann added.
