UAE Awards Hydraulic Tunnel Contract to Impregilo

Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company has awarded a $200m contract to Italian construction company Impregilo to build an additional section of a hydraulic tunnel in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Under the contract, Impregilo will construct an additional 10km of the hydraulic tunnel, with an excavated section of approximately 7m.

In addition to the tunnel, the project involves construction of four access shafts to depths of between 60m and 80m, as well as the links to the main tunnel.

The Italian firm is already building 15km of the 40km hydraulic tunnel, which will collect waste water and convey it to a treatment plant in Al Wathba.

The work will be completed in three years.
