Mozambique to Raise Funds for Irrigation Projects

Mozambique is to raise $645m by 2019 so that it can finance its irrigation projects.

The government has already secured $135m and plans to raise another $510m.

Mozambique has 62,000 hectares of land covered by irrigation out of a possible 33 million hectares, according to Bloomberg.

The country aims to expand its irrigation coverage to 50,000 hectares by 2019, part of which will be funded through private investment.

Work on the irrigation projects will begin next year.
