Ghana Plans Water Supply Project

Ghana is to carry out a $77.34m water project to help increase water access in remote parts of the country.

The project will benefit over 600,000 people in the Central, Volta, Eastern and Northern regions, according to ghanaweb.com.

The World Bank-financed project will implement 40 small town water supply systems, pipe water supply systems for ten communities, 1,800 boreholes fitted with hand pumps and 200 institutional latrines to promote hygiene.

In addition, Ghana launched the Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project, which will provide 200 boreholes, eight small town pipe systems and eight limited mechanised water systems in the Central Region over the next five years.
