Mexican State to Award $41m Wastewater Contract

CEA, the water utility of the Mexican state of Nayarit, has floated a $41m tender to build and operate a new wastewater plant in the coastal city Bahia de Banderas.

The water utility has received five bids so far from: Aqualia Infraestructura de Mexico, a subsidiary of Spain’s Aqualia, and local firms Ecosistema del Agua, Fuerza de Apoyo Constructiva de Occidente, Fypasa Construcciones and Tecnologia Intercontinental.

CEA is scheduled to award the tender on 7 March and sign a 20-year contract with the successful bidder one week later, according to bnamericas.com.

The plant will initially treat 600l of wastewater per second, which will subsequently increase to a final capacity of 900l per second.

The project also includes the construction of 28.4km of sewerage pipelines.
