Hydreon Corporation has developed a new Hydreon optical rain sensor which can be used by wastewater utilities to differentiate between rainwater or sewage.
It uses infrared light beams to sense water hitting the outside surface.
The convex surfaced sensor provides wastewater treatment facilities with reliable information to keep the level of untreated discharge to a minimum.
Diagnostic data provided by the device can help optimise inflow, outflow and energy usage.
The sensor will be help wastewater treatment efficiency thereby improving the water quality of rivers and lakes.
