Arcadis Wins Management Contract for $1.6bn Sewer Upgrade in US
Arcadis has received two contracts worth $60m to assist in the implementation of state agency District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority's (DC Water) $1.6bn sewer upgrade programme in Columbia, US.
The upgrade work will involve restoring and improving the performance of the sewer network, which includes 1,800 miles of sewer pipe and eight major pumping stations, providing wastewater to the Blue Plains plant.
Arcadis will also manage and implement the $400m biosolids programme at the 370mgd Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Washington, US, under a four-year contract.
The company will construct large capacity treatment systems to capture waste energy for reuse and reduce the facility's carbon footprint.
The sewer upgrade is expected to protect the Rock Creek, Anacostia and Potomac Rivers while strengthening the District's sewer system infrastructure.
