NEI to supply ballast water treatment systems for Russian vessels

NEI Treatment Systems has received an order to supply two Venturi Oxygen Stripping (VOS) ballast water treatment systems to Russian firm Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry.

The systems will be installed on two 320,000dwt crude carriers being built for Sovcomflot.

NEI will deliver the two 6,300m³ per hour VOS systems for the Bohai / Sovcomflot vessels in the first half of 2012.

NEI Treatment Systems CEO Jon Slangerup said that Bohai and Sovcomflot have made a strategic decision to install the VOS system to ensure their ballast water treatment systems’ compliance in advance of pending ballast water discharge regulations.
