The Government of Thailand is to set up a national-level committee for the administration of water management in 25 river basins.

The committee will include officials from the ministries of Interior, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Natural Resources and Environment, and Information and Communication Technology.

The committee will develop guidelines to manage water in the country's river basins and is expected to start work when it receives approval from the Prime Minister.

The Minister of Science and Technology Plodprasop Suraswadi said that the government is looking for a special strategy to deal with floods and expects to be able to push flood water into the sea within 15 days.
