Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state water utility Corsan said it plans to invest $1.2bn in sanitation projects to reach a 30% sanitation service by 2011.
The state water utility is undertaking 15 sewerage projects with a total investment of R427.4m ($240m).
The water utility serves seven million users providing treated water to 98% of the population and sanitary services to 13%.
The company spent 10% of its budget on sewerage systems and 90% on potable water, but now plans to spend 50% of its budget on sewerage services and the remaining funds on drinking water.
