Japan to Fund Pakistan Water Projects

30 July 2010

Japan will provide $40m to Pakistan to improve drinking water facilities in Abbottabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The project is part of a $1bn package promised by Japan to Pakistan last year, which will benefit about 216,000 people in the Abbottabad district.

The project, to be complete within three years, will provide safe drinking water from rivers and improve existing groundwater systems in the district.

On completion the project will increase drinking water access to 92% of the district's population from 56%, according to tribune.com.pk.
