Ghana Launches Water and Sanitation Project

Ghana has launched a sanitation and water project, Ghana Compact, to ensure water and sanitation access throughout the country.

The government will annually allocate $200m towards sanitation and water improvements and an additional $150m for hygienic treatment, sewage disposal and stormwater management.

The programme is part of the country’s effort to join in the global initiative and achieve universal and sustainable access to sanitation and safe water.

The government is also planning further allocations for the programme under the essential services category.
