Japan Funds Pakistan Water and Sanitation Projects

Japan has extended a grant of $23m to Pakistan for the expansion of water supply systems in Faisalabad and the rehabilitation of sewage and drainage systems in Lahore.

In Faisalabad 24 deep wells will be constructed to benefit 1.89 million people in the area.

Part of the grant will also be used to rehabilitate pumps and trash rake systems to improve drainage systems in Lahore during the rain season.

The project will benefit about three million people in a 105km² area in Lahore, according to ppp.com.pk.
