Veolia Secures Hong Kong Sludge Treatment Contract
Veolia Environment has won a design-build-operate contract for a sludge treatment plant in the New Territories of Hong Kong.
The plant will have a capacity to treat 2,000t a day and will treat sewage sludge generated from Hong Kong's 11 treatment plants.
The plant will be constructed by a consortium of Veolia Water and Leighton Asia, and will take 37 months to complete.
Veolia will be provided with a consolidated revenue of €414m ($577m) for the construction phase.
Under a 15-year contract, the plant will be jointly operated by Veolia Water and Veolia Environmental Services, generating a consolidated revenue of €20m ($27m).
