American Water bags $10m contract from South Orange village of New Jersey

American Water, a water and wastewater utility company, has been awarded the operation and maintenance contract for the township of South Orange Village water services in Essex County, New Jersey.

The award, which is valued at approximately $10m over the ten year term of the contract, follows a period of negotiations after the company's Contract Services Group was selected through a competitive process.

American Water Contract Services is part of the company's market-based American Water Enterprises subsidiary.

The deal includes operations and maintenance for the Village's 4,750 connections, 60 miles of water main, 600 hydrants, 3,000 valves, three storage tanks, and one water supply well.

American Water Enterprises president Deborah Degillio said: "We are excited to partner with the Village of South Orange through this contract.

"Through our operations, engineering, and technology expertise, we are looking forward to working with the Village in implementing system improvements to help ensure high quality service to the community."
