American Water expands services in four US states
American Water Works Company is expanding its water and sewer line protection programmes to homeowners in the US states of Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina and Texas.
The water line protection and sewer line protection programmes are offered through the subsidiaries of American Water, which are American Water Resources and American Water Resources of Texas.
Through the programmes, homeowners will receive comprehensive protection for water line and sewer line repairs that are not covered by their insurance or their respective water and sewer service provider.
The programmes also provide homeowners with coverage for water and sewer line emergencies, including the dispatching of a qualified local contractor for repairs, basic site restoration and 24-7 customer service.
American Water Resources president Sharon Cameron said many homeowners are unaware of their potential liabilities relating to repairs of the water and sewer lines they own on their property.
"We are pleased to offer these programmes in additional communities to help protect homeowners from the high cost of those repairs," she said."American Water Resources uses local, pre-qualified contractors for all claims."
The company said water line protection starts at $5 a month and covers up to $5,000 in repairs, while sewer line protection starts at $9 a month and covers up to $8,000 in repairs.
The service line protection programmes will also be extended by American Water Resources and American Water Resources of Texas to municipalities through partnerships in the LineSaver programme, which is a solution for service line repairs that are neither the responsibility of a municipality's water department, or covered by homeowners' insurance.
American Water is a publicly traded US water and wastewater utility company.
