American Water's subsidiary Indiana American Water has started operations at its upgraded Hidden Lake water treatment facility in Indiana, US.

The facility is part of the $25m programme initiated by the company to enhance water quality and improve system reliability for its customers.

The utility upgraded the system's infrastructure though the addition of a new well field, thereby increasing its capacity.

Another improvement was the inclusion of new treatment processes to enhance water quality by removing iron and manganese.

The upgraded plant can provide up to six million gallons per day, with the capability of expanding to nine million gallons.
