The provincial government of Natal is to release a R$126m ($68.2m) tender to build a drainage tunnel in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.

The tunnel will be constructed between the city's new Dunas stadium and Potengi River, and is expected to be completed by December 2013, reports bnamericas.com.

The project is part of the city's plan to prepare the region for the expected influx of tourists during the 2014 World Cup.

The city government will also sign a financing contract with the federal savings bank Caixa Econômica Federal for the project.
