Brazilian state Alagoas has received three bids for a 30-year public-private partnership (PPP) to improve water supply in the Agreste region, which is estimated to cost R$143m ($81.9m).
Bids were submitted by engineering companies Goetze Lobato Engenharia, Saneamento Ambiental Águas do Brasil and Companhia de Águas do Brasil (CAB), according to Brazilian utility Casal.
The scope of work will involve the construction of new pipelines and repairing of old ones, increasing potable water supply to Arapiraca town and providing water for ten towns.
The work will also include the building of two pumping stations and a potable water plant with capacity to treat 1,200m3/h.
Arapiraca town will receive about 1000m3/h of the total 1,500m3/h water produced from the system, and the remaining 500m3/h will be directed to the mining firm in Craíbas.
Upon completion, the Arapiraca distribution network will have a total production capacity of 2,250m3/h, reports BNamericas.
