Chile to build four reservoirs

21 November 2011

The government in Chile is planning to invest more than $200m in building four reservoirs in the country.

Spanish firm OHL is constructing the 27 million cubic metre Chacrillas reservoir, which will be managed by the Putaendo irrigation council, reports BNamericas. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of 2013.

Work on the two reservoirs projects, Valle Hermaso reservoir and Chironta reservoir, which will be built in the northern region IV, is expected to start in March 2014.

Laurence Golborne, Chile Public Works minister, said the government will decide on the fourth project in the next few months.
