Brazilian water utility Copasa will expand the sewerage system of the city of Timóteo, in Minas Gerais, with an investment of BRL55m ($29.2m).
Copasa made the investment as part of its 30-year concession agreement, which was renewed in September, according to bnamericas.com.
The scope of work includes the construction of a wastewater treatment plant and the installation of 48.5km interceptor pipelines, 21km collector pipelines and new sewer main connections.
Once completed, Piracicaba and Doce rivers will be preserved and the new system will benefit Timóteo's 90,000 residents.
