The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has begun a water pipeline project costing AED96m ($26m).
The project will supply, test, extend and commission a new main water pipeline, made of reinforced fiberglass, reports Emirates 24/7. It will be 17km long and will take nearly two years to complete.
Dewa managing director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said the water pipeline project is in line with the vision of the Emirate of Dubai to deliver world-class electricity and water services, in addition to promoting its leading position as a hub for finance, business, trade and tourism.
"It is part of the projects to develop and enhance the infrastructure to improve efficiency and reliability of the water network," Al Tayer said. "The cost of the project will exceed $26m, and the new water pipeline will extend from the main water pumping station at Al Quoz, passing the Camel Race Course road to Business Bay, between Al Doha Road and Al Khail Road."
Dewa is the state-owned provider of electricity and water for the emirate of Dubai.
