Echologics, a unit of Mueller Water Products, has secured a master services agreement with United Water by which any operating division of United Water will use Echologics' leak detection and condition assessment services.
The three-year agreement is the result of a transmission main leak detection pilot project that was completed in 2010.
The project covers the testing of five miles of water mains, a large-diameter reinforced concrete pipe, pre-stressed cylinder concrete and a cast-iron pipe for United Water New Jersey (UWNJ).
UWNJ operations engineer Antonio Vicente said that with Echologics, United Water can take a proactive, efficient approach to mitigating water leaks and assessing the structural condition of pipes before service is compromised.
