Elster has secured an order from Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais (COPASA) to supply 111,000 S120 single-jet water meters in Brazil over the next 12 months.
Jerry Lauzze, the company's global water business executive vice president, said the COPASA deployment will enhance Elster's offerings in the Latin American water utilities market by demonstrating the benefits of Elster metering solutions.
"Latin America is an emerging market in the global effort to improve water management and conservation," Lauzze said.
COPASA will install a combination of plastic register cover single-jet meters, including a standard flat plain version and a 45o version for easier meter reading.
According to the company, the S120 single-jet water meter, which has been approved to the latest international standards, provides durability and accuracy over a wide operating range.
Elster is offering the item in a range of sizes and register covers to meet individual customer needs, the company stated.
Arnaldo Reis Carvalho Filho, COPASA water meter manager, said the company is expected to continue its relationship with Elster, which has been developed over many years.
The new order follows the utility's selection of Elster in June 2011, for the supply of 63,000 glass and plastic register cover S120 single-jet water meters to support the utility's metering programmes.
Germany-based Elster is a provider of gas, electricity and water meters, as well as networking and software solutions globally.
