Eureka Forbes, Waterlogic partner to develop premium water purification products for India
9 November 2012
India-based water purifier firm Eureka Forbes has formed a 50:50 joint venture entity with UK-based Waterlogic, to develop premium water purification products and solutions to cater to the Indian market.
Aquaignis, the name of the new joint venture (JV), will be formed between Eureka Forbes' subsidiary Aquamall Water Solutions and Waterlogic.
As part of the JV, both companies will invest $10m to introduce their products into the Indian market over a period of five years.
The product will be developed at a new facility in Dehradun city in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, which expected to begin operation in the second half of 2013.
It will use Waterlogic's filtration and purification technologies to develop products, and will have a capacity of three million units per annum.
Products manufactured in the facility will bear the 'Firewall' branding to indicate that it uses Waterlogic's ultra-violet (UV) purification technology.
Waterlogic Group CEO Jeremy Ben-David said the company is excited to work with Eureka Forbes, which is well known for introducing advanced innovation to the market.
"Waterlogic's Firewall UV technology is one of the most effective water purification technologies for point-of-use (PoU) water dispenser applications currently on the market and the technology is certified by the Water Quality Association as being able to guarantee pure and safe water meeting US EPA standards 100% of the time," Ben-David added.
