Freestone Resources and MEA Solutions have formed a joint venture to deliver a total solution for water resource management in the oilfield services sector.
Freestone Water Solutions will use specialised, proprietary technology designed to treat and recycle flowback water, along with produced water for subsequent reuse in the fracking process.
The system will minimise the amount of new water required in the fracking process and the amount of water that must be trucked offsite and disposed of at disposal well locations.
Freestone Resources' president Clayton Carter said that the joint venture will combine MEA's experience with industrial, private, public and governmental authorities that manage and treat water and wastewater, with Freestone's knowledge of oil and gas technology, onsite services, exploration and production.
"This cross-industry knowledge will allow us to meet the specific and unique requirements of each water recycling and treatment site that implements our technology," Carter said.
