Scottish Water has awarded a five-year framework agreement contract to Hydro International to supply sand filtration equipment.
Under the contract, Hydro International will provide its DynaSand filtration units for suspended solids, nitrate and ammonia removal.
DynaSand is a continuously operating sand filter with an internal washing system that eliminates the need for wash water storage tanks, backwash pumps and collecting tanks.
Hydro International's operations director Chris Day said that currently there are 25 DynaSand units in Scotland providing tertiary treatment for sewage and industrial wastewater treatment works.
