Imperial Holding signs €75m drinking water project agreement with Cameroon Government

India’s Imperial Holding has signed a €75m agreement with the Cameroon Government for a potable water supply project involving construction of a water treatment plant near Yaounde, the country’s capital.

The plant will be built at Mefou, 17km to the south of Yaounde, reported Businessweek, which cited Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV).

Imperial director Vaibhuv Duvvur was cited by CRTV as saying that the plant will supply 50,000m³ of treated drinking water to the city.

Under the project, Imperial will also be responsible for supplying 20,000m³ of water in 20l (five-gallon) containers for areas in Cameroon that lack running water supply.

Construction for the water treatment plant will start in January next year and is likely to be concluded within six months.

The Indian firm will finance and own the project for the initial 15 years, after which it will be transferred to the Cameroon Government.
