Japan, Saudi Arabia to jointly develop water projects

21 September 2011

Japan and Saudi Arabia are to sign a memorandum later this week under an agreement to cooperate on several water-related projects.

As part of the memorandum, Japan will provide advanced technology for a seawater desalination project to Saudi Arabia and construct waterworks and sewage systems.

Both countries will hold regular consultations about Saudi Arabia's water policy.

A major Japanese construction firm will carry out surveys in Saudi Arabia for the development of large waterworks projects, reports arabstoday.net.
