Leighton Holdings subsidiary John Holland Group has received a $400m construction contract from SunWater for the Connors River Dam to the Moranbah Pipeline in Central Queensland, Australia.

The project involves the construction of a 136km large-diameter buried pipeline that will carry 45,000 megalitres of water per year from the proposed Connors River Dam to the Bowen Basin and surrounding areas.

The work also involves the construction of a reservoir, bored and open creek crossings, watercourse and road crossings, and storage.

On completion, the project will help meet the increasing water supply reliability and security needs of the region's resources sector.

John Holland's Northern Region general manager Gavin Stubbs said that the scope of project also includes delivery of a construction camp and associated road works.
