Microdyn-Nadir and Ovivo turn partners to capture MBR markets in US

Microdyn-Nadir has signed a multi-year agreement with Canadian water treatment firm Ovivo for servicing the membrane bioreactor (MBR) market in the US.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ovivo will serve as the exclusive representative for Microdyn-Nadir’s MBR products in the country.

MBR technology combines membrane processes like microfiltration or ultrafiltration with a suspended growth bioreactor for water purification. It is now widely used for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment processes.

The deal will lead to a collaborative venture for developing private-label membrane equipment (OV).

Combination of Ovivo’s system integration expertise with Microdyn’s membrane manufacturing knowledge is expected to support innovation, improve quality and delivery times and reduce costs.

Both the firms support the use of flat-sheet membrane technology for submerged membrane applications in MBR systems. It offers the benefits of better packaging density and aeration designs which enable MBRs to rise above the conventionally used wastewater treatment technologies, both technically and economically.

Microdyn has agreed to build a second production line for BIO-CEL membranes, which is expected to be based in Austin, Texas and will be assisted by Ovivo US operations.

Production under the new line has been scheduled to start from January 2017.

Microdyn-Nadir is a Germany based technology firm involved in the research, development and manufacturing of membrane technology.
