22 November 2011

Portsmouth Water System has opened its new water treatment plant in the US state of New Hampshire.

The $20m facility, located on a 100 acre site, will provide drinking water to the cities of Greenland, Newington, New Castle, Portsmouth and Rye.

Madbury Water Treatment Plant has received silver certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for incorporating energy efficient measures.

Hazen and Sawyer served as the lead environmental engineer for the construction of the plant.

The project has been partially financed from state-revolving funds, reports the Fosters Daily Democrat.
