Purestream Services deploys AVARA system at Pennsylvania wastewater disposal plant

Purestream Services has deployed its AVARA vapour recompression system at a commercial wastewater disposal plant in Warren, Pennsylvania, US.

The system, which treats around 2,000 barrels of water every day, is currently operating within a wastewater disposal and treatment facility’s existing treatment technologies.

The technology allows the facility to meet new discharge criteria in the state of Pennsylvania by bringing the discharge water quality levels to regulatory compliance.

Purestream collaborated with Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Research Lab scientists to develop the AVARA project.

The AVARA system features thermal management processes, automated functions and remote monitoring capabilities.

It has been commercially used for more than four years in several onshore oil and gas wastewater operations.

AVARA has already been deployed in the US states of Arkansas, Texas, and Wyoming to treat produced and frac water in oil and gas operations for volume reduction, re-use and discharge.

Purestream Services designs and builds water treatment systems to treat produced and frac flow-back water for discharge and re-use in the oil and shale gas industry.

The company has expanded its treatment solutions to support mining, food processing, municipal wastewater and other water intensive industries.
