Purestream to treat frac water at Williston Basin operations

4 November 2011

Purestream Technology has received an order for its Avara technology from Whiting Oil and Gas to treat frac water.

The Avara technology will be used to treat the water for reuse at Whiting Oil and Gas' Williston Basin operations in North Dakota.

The system cleans and recycles wastewater using an accelerated vapour recompression process which removes harmful contaminates and makes it cleaner than drinking water.

It is designed to reduce the cost of water disposal by recycling the produced and flowback water at or near the well site.

Each unit will have the capacity to treat 2,000 barrels of flowback water a day and provide clean water for continued use in their fracing operations.
