R3 Fusion wins patent for water purification technology

27 September 2011

Cleantech company R3 Fusion has received a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for its water purification technology.

The technology has been incorporated into R3 Fusion's short path condensate recovery (SPaCeR) system, which is an energy-efficient separation of pure water from briny solutions, industrial waste streams, frac water and completion fluids in oil and gas drilling.

The technology does not require chemicals or membranes to achieve water separation and has already been scaled to a commercial level.

"There is an ever-increasing emphasis on the importance of our limited fresh water resources," said R3 founder and CTO Roshan Jachuck. "The ability of our technology to significantly impact the purification, reuse, recycling, remediation and desalination of water sources is exciting, and we expect to demonstrate a number of these important applications in the coming year."
