Saudi Arabia signs $226m deals for water and sewage projects

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Water and Electricity has signed contracts worth SAR851m ($226m) to carry out water and sewage projects in the country.

The projects include channelling water from dams in Leeth to the Al-Shoaibah Phase-2 desalination plant with an investment of SAR565m and upgrading the sewage network in the Al-Rass governorate in Qassim with an investment of SAR37.87m, reports Arab News.

SAR26m ($6.9m) will be allocated for the construction of a water tank and distribution centre at Wadi bin Hashbal and SAR22m will be used for a sewage network project at Uhud Rafeeda in Asir.

The ministry also awarded a SAR20.6m contract to an engineering consultancy firm to supervise water and sewage projects in the Sulail and Wadi Al-Dawassir governorates in Riyadh.
