STW Resources to commission pilot water processing project in the US

9 January 2012

STW Resources Holding Corp will commission an oilfield-produced water processing pilot in the Permian Basin of West Texas, US.

A specialised mobile unit, designed and built using patented and proprietary technologies, will be installed by STW Resources to process up to 500 barrels a day for up to ten days a site. The company is expected to perform five pilot projects of various durations for different oil firms within a 30-day period.

STW Resources' pilot technology cleans produced and brackish water from underground aquifers to operator's various specifications required in the drilling and fracking operations of oil and gas wells. The technology also has the capacity to remove sulfates, hydrocarbons, iron, magnesium, and H2S, as well as other contaminants.

STW Resources CEO Stanley Weiner said the deployment of the pilot technology allows the firm to demonstrate in the field that it can clean any type of water.

"We believe the pilots will show the effectiveness of our technology and establish STW as a water services company in the Permian Basin, a region with one of the highest concentration of wells in the US," he said. "Processing the water will help preserve our dwindling fresh water resources while reducing dependence on foreign oil sources."

STW Resources said the pilots represent the final phase required to procure water reclamation contracts from oil and gas customers.
