Thermo Energy to sell wastewater recovery system to recycling firm

31 October 2011

ThermoEnergy Corporation has signed a contract to sell its CAST wastewater recovery system to a major recycling firm for an undisclosed sum.

CAST wastewater recovery system is a physical-chemical process that uses temperature and reduced pressure to separate chemicals, metals and nutrients from wastewater.

The system will be installed at the firm's recycling facility, which recovers ethylene glycol from spent car and truck antifreeze / coolant, and will combine CAST technology with pretreatment to achieve a 95% recovery rate.

The facility will dewater 3,000gl per day of pretreated wastewater containing approximately 40% ethylene glycol, and is expected to recover more than 1,000gl per day of dewatered ethylene glycol.
