Triune-Beck to build national water centre in the US

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded an $18.8m contract to Triune-Beck to build the new NOAA National Water Center at the University of Alabama in Alabama, US.

The centre will integrate and combine the capabilities of multiple federal water partners to expand and improve river and flood forecasting, and enhance water resource management.

It will also accelerate the application of research to real-world uses and provide a single portal for water resources information.

The centre will combine hydrological forecasting operations and research under one roof to support field operations, improve joint agency coordination and address emerging stakeholder needs.

It will also include centres for water resources forecasting, applied water resources research, distance learning and development, and a geo-intelligence laboratory.
