US utility selects ICM software for sewerage modelling

20 December 2011

Innovyze has been selected by the water utility Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD) to provide InfoWorks ICM software to meet its sewerage modeling requirements for its operations in California, US.

Innovyze's software will provide the utility with a solution for modelling below-ground and above-ground elements of catchments to accurately represent all flow paths.

The software also takes into account the interactions of natural and man-made environments; it is designed to simulate the water quality impact of polluting runoff and effluent from urban areas.

With the help of the software, wastewater utilities will be able to predict flood risks, support cost-effective drainage design and management, as well as develop online urban flooding forecasts.

The InfoWorks ICM will also be used for importing, tracking and auditing large amounts of highly complex data.

SASD senior civil engineer Ligaya Kohagura said SASD aims to improve its system and monitor its system performance.

"SASD utilises InfoWorks ICM within its capacity management and system analysis group, because it provides the best mix of advanced hydraulics combined with cutting edge technology," Kohagura said.
