Veidekke Entreprenør to renovate Tunhovd dam in Norway

Veidekke Entreprenør has signed a NOK 162m ($27.9m) contract with Statkraft to renovate the Tunhovd Dam and to build a submerged weir at Pålsbufjorden lake in Nore and Uvdal in Buskerud, Norway.

The work will include covering the upstream and downstream sides of the dam with stone blocks to prevent erosion, the installation of equipment to measure leaks and building sluice gates.

Other developments will include securing the bypass shaft with supporting walls and sidewalls for parts of the dam embankment.

The dam regulations are maintained and followed up by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate.

Pålsbu submerged weir is an environmental measure to reduce the control level of the inner part of Pålsbufjorden lake, it will be a 300m stone embankment made watertight with a concrete core.

Work is scheduled to be complete by 1 September 2014.
